About the Job
This role will support the development and execution of the Company’s communications and investor engagement programs under the direction of senior leadership. The job holder will, working closely with cross-functional teams, craft and deliver clear and consistent messaging to internal and external stakeholders, including media, employees, investors, and shareholders, and ensure all communication is aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.

Key Accountabilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing corporate communications and investor relations strategies and annual plans and shape messaging frameworks and PR plans with the support of senior management.
- Review and align departmental policies and procedures.
- Implement methods for measuring and analysing results of communication and engagement efforts.
- Proactively manage content plans /messaging for relevant stakeholder groups. Research and author content (articles, Opeds) based on industry trends and CEC activities for circulation and placement in various media.
- Develop and distribute media releases, to a full range of media outlets including both local and international media.
- Maintain and update content on the Company’s digital platforms to ensure it reflects the Company’s communication policy, ethics, and values and favourably positions the Company to the public.
- Draft speeches for company executives and arrange interviews and other forms of public/ stakeholder engagement for them.
- Prepare responses to requests for information from the media, customers, and other people external to the company.
- Coordinate production of a bi-annual corporate newsletter.
- Ensure that the Company’s activities and objectives are understood, and the company is positively regarded in the financial, capital markets and investment community through the adoption of various engagement initiatives.
- Manage day-to-day media relations activities.
- Proactively maintain relationships with journalists and industry media.
- Coordinate media interviews for Company spokespersons and respond to media queries promptly.
- Evaluate and report on the reach and impact of media activities through regular media monitoring.
- Monitor various platforms and report on industry and sector-related developments and sentiment of the CEC brand that may influence strategy implementation.
- Coordinate the consolidation, review, design and circulation of quarterly company reports. Consolidate and submit monthly and quarterly departmental reports.
- Manage advertising, exhibition, and promotion programs to enhance brand affinity and awareness.
- Ensure consistent use of the company’s corporate identity which includes use of logo and (other) signage.
- Plan, coordinate and manage the execution of special company events including press conferences, plant tours, handovers, and exhibitions.
- Organise the Annual General Meeting of the company in liaison with the Legal Department.
- Organise and conduct investor/analyst meetings, road shows and conferences.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive information catalogue, including key stakeholder contact databases, relevant to the Company and to meet internal and external requests.
- Set up and manage audio-visual, photo and press libraries (maintain relevant company archives).
- Manage content for internal communication platforms, including suggestion boxes, notice boards and Intranet.
- Support the development and execution of internal content communication plans to enhance engagement with employees.
- Coordinate the content creation and development of the Company’s weekly internal newsletter.
- Coordinate timely content development, editing, design, printing and circulation of subsidiary annual reports.
- Prepare and distribute approved news and results releases to analysts, brokers, and investors.
- Monitor and assess changes and trends in ownership of the company’s stock.
- Create initiatives to increase shareholder value and positively impact share price.
- Work with the transfer secretary to ensure that all shareholder information is always kept correct and current.
- Manage issues pertaining to ESOP and employees’ sale of shares.
- Continuously update the shareholder register in consultation with the transfer secretary.
- Ensure full and timely disclosure of material information, by working with the legal and finance directorates in complying with the rules of the SEC, LuSE and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Serve as the key and primary point of contact for the investment community.
- Respond to queries from shareholders, professional investors, brokers, and the financial media.
- Maintain close contact and productive relations with LuSE, SEC and (sponsoring) brokers, the company’s (investment) bankers and institutional investors who follow the company or hold sizeable positions in the stock.
- Ensure consistent corporate image for internal and external investor relations communications and generally foster a consistent and positive corporate image.
- Maintain up-to-date contacts with financial analysts through private/group meetings.
- Periodically review policies for the Company’s corporate social responsibility program.
- Identify, undertake, and oversee the implementation of CSR projects.
- Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation mechanism for all CSR support.
- Coordinate the review of CSR requests based on the CSR Committee TORs.
- Ensure that subordinates are competent to deliver their performance commitments by arranging necessary training and assisting them in the implementation of the development plans.
- Advise, coach and support team members in handling complex tasks.
- Visibly promote a positive HSE & risk management culture and demonstrate behaviour in line with the Company’s HSE policies and standards.
- Ensure team members’ compliance with all legal, occupational health and safety, environmental and risk management standards and best practices.
To be successful in this role, you will be required to have:
- Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Minimum Degree in Communication or equivalent from a reputable institution.
- Three years’ industry experience at a management level.
- Strategic planning experience.
- Media relations and interaction experience.
- Experience with internal senior management and external stakeholder management.
